I want to rescue one and I'm wondering how they are as pets.
I live in a large house with a large fenced in yard, plus I'm on disability so I'm home all day.
    They are absolutely AMAZING! (…)

  • Why do some shelters charge so much for dogs, especially purebreeds?

Have you seen problems with rescuers and shelters selling dogs like purebred English Bulldogs for alot of money?I myself have seen this happen time and time again. Not just with some shelters but also with some rescuers.Don't get me wrong I know it takes alot of time and money into running a rescue and a shelter.I have fostered, adopted, fed strays, and so on.So I know all about it.I am not into the new fads of breeding two purebreds and making more mix breeds.Long story short I was at a shelter volunteering today.A family came in and seen a English Bulldog. They said they loved him and had been looking everywhere for one to adopt. They asked how much he was to adopt and the shelter manager said five hundred dollars. They then said they would just get a puppy for a couple hundred more that they knew the history of :(.I know money shouldn't be an option but shouldn't some shelters charge less, even for purebreds,so they find new homes fast?I just feel bad that someone left him over money. They said they had enough money for up keep, they just did not want to pay that much for a rescue. Thanks once agin for your opinions.
