What are bulldog puppies going for nowadays?
My sister wants a bulldog puppy, my friend says that they are pretty expensive, but how much exactly.
You should expect to pay $3000+ for a well-bred pet quality puppy. They require artificial insemination to breed most of the time, and usually a C-section to deliver, vet costs are extraordinary with this breed even to produce a normal healthy litter with no complications. The parents also need to be carefully screened for genetic disorders including heart, thyroid, hip, knee, elbow, eye, and hearing problems, and responsible breeders pay a lot of money to have this done properly and ensure healthy puppies. Do realize also with this breed that vet costs tend to be very high due to the variety of potential health issues. Expect a badly bred puppy from a less than reputable source that didn't health test to rack up vet bills in the $10,000+ range in the first year of ownership. So, it is important to buy from a breeder who does health test and breeds only top-quality dogs, even for just a pet.

Why would she want a bulldog? You know they have to have c-section and usually can't be born naturally?
* Hip and Joint Problems - Such as Hip Dysplasia & Arthritis
o Hip Dysplasia is when the ball joint of the femur does not naturally fall into the ball socket in the hip. Common treatments for Hip Dysplasia are surgery for the most severe cases. More minor cases call for precautionary diet, supplementation, and adjusting with lifestyle changes.
o Arthritis is an inflammatory condition of the joints. Characteristics include pain, heat, reddness, swelling, and limitation of movement.
* Eye and Vision Problems - Such as Cherry Eye
o Cherry Eye is the development of a third eye lid.
* Various Skin Problems - Such as Allergies, Mange or chronic Yeast Infections
* Heart Disease - With their large bodies and short noses making for difficult breathing, bulldogs often over heat and can suffer from heart failure.
* Ingrown Tail - Occasionally, with a English & French Bulldogs the desired corkscrew tail is wrapped too tight and without proper maintenance.
ADD: Funny that you all thumbs down me for giving true, accurate information about this breed.'
OHh yeah? Then why did I get this off of several different websites containing information about the breed? GEE, they must all have their info wrong!!!
~Honestly the tail is the least of the health problems that they should be worried about.

2-3k is pretty common for this breed, but it depends on markings, coloring, pedigree, registration, location, etc. Because the pups have a large head & shoulders, the moms have to be c-sectioned which greatly contributes to the cost of the puppies. Also, the mom can only be c-sectioned a few times before being spayed…

£1000 sometimes more.

2000 +, sometimes 4000 + for a well bred bulldog which is what you want. Well bred bulldogs WILL have less health problems.
FYI brat a corkscrew tail is not the preferred tail in a bulldog, why not read the breed standard, straight/loose tails are preferred. Or even better talk to someone who actually knows something about a bulldog.
Yeah because im a breeder of bulldogs, i have a mentor that has been in the breed for 30 + years she knows bulldogs like the back of her hand, when we started she told us everything about them including the preferred tail IS a loose straight tail. That info you have is wrong.

American bulldog… purebred AKC from champion titled parents… at least $1000.
English bulldog puppies regardless of background are going to be an easy $1000 if not more. Why? English bulldogs needed to be artificially inseminated and have a c-section. That right there can cost $1500.

$1000 and up…Bulldogs are not cheap dogs….
They have a whole host of heath problems…They are not easy to breed and they are not cheap to own…It takes a C- Section just for them to have puppies.
