Do realize also with this breed that vet costs tend to be very high due to the variety of potential health issues. Expect a badly bred puppy from a less than reputable source that didn't health test to rack up vet bills in the $10,000+ range in the first year of ownership. So, it is important to buy from a breeder who does health test and breeds only top-quality dogs, even for just a pet.
