What are bulldog puppies going for nowadays?

My sister wants a bulldog puppy, my friend says that they are pretty expensive, but how much exactly.

You should expect to pay $3000+ for a well-bred pet quality puppy. They require artificial insemination to breed most of the time, and usually a C-section to deliver, vet costs are extraordinary with this breed even to produce a normal healthy litter with no complications. The parents also need to be carefully screened for genetic disorders including heart, thyroid, hip, knee, elbow, eye, and hearing problems, and responsible breeders pay a lot of money to have this done properly and ensure healthy puppies. Do realize also with this breed that vet costs tend to be very high due to the variety of potential health issues. Expect a badly bred puppy from a less than reputable source that didn't health test to rack up vet bills in the $10,000+ range in the first year of ownership. So, it is important to buy from a breeder who does health test and breeds only top-quality dogs, even for just a pet.
